hello, This is try two. This attached patch speeds up mplayer execution by over FIVE times when all of the of the following apply: * menus are enabled * menus are enabled but not displayed * direct rendering is in use About AUTHORS, both the profiling fixes as well as menu speed up represent about month of work with some advanced tracing/dissasembling put in behind it. Alban, what do you way? It's your baby, so I'd prefer if you could look at it and hopefully review/apply it. If I don't hear any complain, I think I will apply it. This patch works well for me. Guillaume
