attached small patch enabled MPlayer to play widescreen videos (aspect ratio of 16:9). This is pretty useful when you want to play widescreen DVDs with MPlayer ;)
The patch adds -widescreen cmd line option and changes mplayer.c so that it passes altered desired screen height to the video driver. Some drivers follow d_height hint, some don't. Windowed modes work just fine with -widescreen, some fullscreen ones do, some don't (I had to modify Xv driver, which I use).
Hi Vaclav, I've previously submitted a somewhat similar patch. Mine went a little further to also correct the minor non-square pixel ratios of ordinary digital video (ie 720x576 should be stretched to 768x576). And it picks up the aspect tag from vobs automatically. Developers - do you want this patch again? I seem to remember a view that the code should be factored into the libvo2 stuff coming etc. But in the meantime it fixes a problem, and getting it into the CVS would stop people wasting time reimplementing it... Also - my patch for files >4GB? It looks like the idea to do a release has been abandoned, and this change is a lot more minor than others going in. This change has also been re-implemented by someone else in the meantime.
