Synchronization of players in LAN

Hello I'm trying to synchronise several players running on several computers connected to a dedicated 10/100 Ethernet switch. Each one reads a different movie (video only) from its internal hard disk, and resolution will be 768x576. I'm thinking of a simple solution: - Add some code at mplayer startup so it will wait for an UDP broadcast packet (sent by a central master in the LAN). This way all the players would start at the same time. - Use NTP to keep in sync all the computers' clocks, and trust mplayer's rtc synchronisation feature. With this simple setup, could we be sure all the players would keep the synchronisation? Or should the master computer track them all and take control on their speeds? How difficult would be to add code so all the player synchronise using the LAN? Or should I use some external clock connected to all serial ports? Or use a totally different approach? [PATCH] -wid: get initial window geometry

When -wid option is used, most VOs that support it start playing video at its original (unscaled) size in the top left corner of the window, and only scale it to the full window upon receipt of a ConfigureNotify event, if and when the window is resized. Also some VOs forget to map the window back after unmapping it and setting attributes, again when -wid is in use. Attached patch solved the problem here. It would remove the need for (some of) ugly hackery in MPlayer frontends. -- kiriuja

[PATCH] Added Multi-channel MP3 on MP4 audio decoding

This patch allows mplayer to decode mp4 files which contain a multi-channel mp3 audio track as specified in ISO/IEC 14496-3:2001/FPDAM 3 (MP3onMP4). Added two lines of code to demux_mov.c to test for indication of mp3on4 and set the correct audio format. Assigned new format as 29, since that is the value of AAC audioObjectType used to indicate mp3on4. Added new file, libmpcodecs/ad_mp3on4.c, which splits the MP4 access unit into seperate mp3 audio frames (one for each channel or channel pair) and calls the mp3 decoder. The ffmpeg mp3 decoder was chosen since it allows multiple instances. Added appropriate lines to etc/codecs.conf, libmpcodecs/Makefile and libmpcodecs/ad.c for new file. Note, when I tested this on win32 I discovered that the ffmpeg mp3 (mpegaudiodec.c) decoder did not work correctly (with or without my mods) with -O4 optimization, I had to set it to -O2, and then all was ok. Everything was fine on linux. [PATCH] don't skip first mp3 frame

for some reason, the current code skips the first frame of mp3 files (using any decoder), i'm assuming this is a bug as i can't see any good reason for this. this probably isn't noticeable with most files, but i have a couple of test cases that have audible sound data in the first frame. if someone wants, email me and i'll send you the starting part of the files for testing purposes. please apply the patch that i've attached Nehal

[BUG] [PATCH] DPMS left enabled after changing DVB-channel

Hi, there is a new bug in recent mplayer-cvs: after changing the channel in DVB-input, DPMS is enabled (from `vo_x11_uninit') and not disabled again, when the next channel comes up, resulting (for me) in a blank screen after some minutes. This problem never happened for me with an earlier (approx 3 months) cvs-version. You find a simple one-line patch attached that fixes the problem for me (moving `saver_on' from `vo_x11_uninit' to `vo_uninit'). There might, however be side effects, so maybe someone with better understanding should look at it. Hi, I had on user report where the following patch made MPlayer compile on AMD64 with assembler optimizations. e.g. postproc/swscale.c tests for ARCH_X86, and I'd also say that ARCH_X86 should be defined for AMD64 (afaik it's just x86 with 64 bit "extension"). I tried to recode the same stream with avidemux2 but it segfaulted after the first pass :-) so there is no comparison. It does not matter if i rip it directly from the dvd or from stream.dump. Also, dumping the dvd with transcode shows the same behaviour. -- Stefan Seyfried
