As I told you all earlier, I've made a script to create .po files from the help files. By doing this I discovered some flaws in the translation files. This is the diff. I'm also attaching the new version of my tiny script. Hello everybody! Hoping to bring the linewrap saga to a good end, here is my latest patch for the README. Lines are wrapped on column 80, meaning there are at most 79 characters of text on one line. mga_vid memory detection error

Hi, I've got a 16Mb Matrox G400 card that is misdetected as a 32Mb model. The result is a green screen. With mga_ram_size=16, everything works fine. (I'm using the current CVS). Since "lspci -v" reports "16Mb", wouldn't it be a good idea to use the subsystem vendor/device id for the memory detection? [PATCH] spudec enters indefinite loop with 'His and her circumstances' DVD 1

The "His and her Circumstances" DVD has rather fancy subtitles, you can choose between 3 english subtitle tracks, 'normal', 'explanations' and 'bot= h'. spudec doesn't like at least the last one, the cause probably being a mastering error. The error happens in the first episode, right at the beginning. I have attached a patch, which fixes the problem for me, but is probably not the solution to the real problem, so if someone with better knowledge of spudec.c could have a look at karekano_broken_sid_2.mpg... -- Tobias PGP: 0x9AC7E0BC This mail is made of 100% recycled bits

XCF support

Hi all, I was thinking about incorporate XCF (Gimp own format) loading to Mplayer. Here's why : 1/ Xcf is cool 2/ I use this format when doing animations (mostly cartoons, about 10s-1mn) 3/ Could be a very cool way to convert XCF's to <whatever mencoder supports> video files So it won't be about just displaying an image, but reading an animation file, the layered xcf format. I explain roughtly XCF support I want to get : XCF can be layered, like PSD and things like that, so each layer of the file is an image of a video/animation. Resolution is not fixed/limited (not 2^X or multiples of X, it's free). It can be 1,8,24,32 bits per pixels (If I remember). It is NOT a feature request, as I would like to do it. All I'm waiting is to know if you're ok with the idea, and if you think I could get help here (or in another place) in order to make that work. [PATCH] GIF support, release quality?

Hello! Attached below are GIF support patches in three parts. The first patch is the bare minimum needed for GIF support. It adds a libgif/libungif based demuxer to libmpdemux, and changes the Makefile to put the GIF library in $(CODEC_LIBS) rather than $(VO_LIBS). Without this change to the Makefile, mencoder would fail to link with GIF support. Also in the first patch is a typo fix in codecs.conf to correct the fourcc of raw formats. This is needed for MPlayer to find the right decoder. The second patch contains all the DOCS updates to reflect the GIF support in the first patch as well as GIF related cosmetic changes for configure. The third patch allows for the automatic loading of vop palette when using raw paletted formats. Currently (AFAIK, and I have briefly RTFS) vf_palette is needed to handle raw paletted formats. Without applying the third patch, you can view GIF animations (or stills) so long as you type -vop palette manually. Comments & criticism are welcome, and I don't mind if it's delayed till after the release. Thanks, --Joey

patch to fix the "blank screen after playback" vesa bug

Hi, this is probably not really important and it is not the cleanest patch ever, but just in case you are interested in it this is a patch that fixes the well known vesa bug that leaves the screen blank after the playback is over. Since the only known solution seems to be switching console, I added to the uninit function the code to make the console switch back and forth from a second different console. Of course this works only if in the system there are at least two active consoles, but this does not seem after all such a great constraint, and anyway the patch would just do nothing in that unfortunate case. Like it happened for the previous fbdev patch, I made a diff against the latest stable version since I checked that the vo_vesa.c file did not change since then. [PATCH] AltiVec: dct64 for mp3lib, IMDCT for liba52, detection code

Hello all, I've made a new version of my AltiVec patch for mplayer. It includes 1) An altivec-optimized DCT64 for mp3lib (partially, it seems roughly three times as fast as the C code according to quick-n-dirty gprof tests) This one is bit-perfect. It also includes my previous patch: 2) An AltiVec-enhanced IMDCT for liba52 (liba52/imdct.c) It's nearly bit-perfect, I have a couple of lsb changed in a 128 frames sample. I can't hear the differences :-) 3) AltiVec detection code ("borrowed" from FFmpeg) & enough code to enable the AltiVec IMDCT in liba52 and mp3lib. If there's any problem with this patch please tell me. (and in particular how to add cpu-specific optimisation to mp3lib, it seems a bit x86-centric...) -- Romain Dolbeau
