Author: iive Date: Thu Nov 27 17:44:02 2025 New Revision: 38681 Log: Workaround vo_vdpau not working on Radeon with libvdpau_va_gl VA-API wrapper. Mesa 25.3.0 has removed native support for VDPAU. Still it could be used with the "libvdpau_va_gl" wrapper library that translates it to VA-API. However the Mesa VA-API driver for Radeon cards does a minimum size check. Apparently the hardware limit for decoding is 64x64 resolution for everything except VP9 and AV1 (they are at 16x16). This causes a problem because vo_vdpau() tries to create a (dummy) decoder with 48x48 resolution when query_format() check is executed. Failing the check prevents further accelerated playback. Workaround the problem by increasing the query_format() resolution to 64x64. Modified: trunk/libvo/vo_vdpau.c Modified: trunk/libvo/vo_vdpau.c ============================================================================== --- trunk/libvo/vo_vdpau.c Fri May 2 14:48:32 2025 (r38680) +++ trunk/libvo/vo_vdpau.c Thu Nov 27 17:44:02 2025 (r38681) @@ -1223,7 +1223,7 @@ static int query_format(uint32_t format) // Note: this will break the current decoder // Not all implementations support safely instantiating // a second decoder, so this is the "lesser evil" - if (create_vdp_decoder(format, 48, 48, 2)) { + if (create_vdp_decoder(format, 64, 64, 2)) { vdp_decoder_destroy(decoder); decoder = VDP_INVALID_HANDLE; decoder_max_refs = -1;
