once in a while i run into a stream that does not work but all it needs is a small change, take for example http://138.25.162.211:8080 an wma8 stream, able to wget using the wmp user agent, but otherwise useless in mplayer changed to mms://138.25.162.211:8080 and it streams fine in mplayer. can we get http to automatically try mms/mmst on the same url if fail? of course this does not work on shoutcast streams (but afair, they use port 8000) any comments are welcome, this happens on a fair percentage of streams. also there is the rtsp/pnm switch, and the 7070/554 port switch too, but thats another story.

no, i think it is a problem with the demuxer, or how its being streamed, as mplayer cannot playback the wget stream either (and windows media player cannot playback the wget stream as well) forcing -demuxer 6 (for asf) does not seem to work as it cannot find asf guid. it gets stuck on a demuxer ;\ mplayer -user-agent "NSPlayer/4.1.0.3927" http://138.25.162.211:8080 -v -v -v -v -v -v Playing http://138.25.162.211:8080.
