Hello. I'm trying to encode the 2001: A Space Odyssey DVD to mpeg4 using lavc on to 2 CDs, preserving original audio stream. Unfortunately, mencoder seems to be unable to complete the second pass, the assertion libavcodec/ratecontrol.c:587: [...] if(s->flags&CODEC_FLAG_PASS2){ assert(picture_number>=0); assert(picture_number<rcc->num_entries); ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ rce= &rcc->entry[picture_number]; wanted_bits= rce->expected_bits; }else{ rce= &local_rce; wanted_bits= (uint64_t)(s->bit_rate*(double)picture_number/fps); } [...] always fails on the last frame. Even stranger, this happens only if I encode chapters 1-16 or 1-17. If I encode only chapter 16 or 17, all is fine. MPlayer crashes on mencoded MPEG1-AVI with b-frames

Streaming video (ASX format)

Hi, I am trying to set up a multicast network to deliver video to clients. I have a win2000 server running windows media encoder and windows media server. I have a link to a .asx file.My .asx file then has a hyperlink to a station.nsc file which has some encrypted information. Now when i try to open my .asx file through my browser using the link,it opens the media player which says opening and waiting..it just sits there. could you provide any guidelines as to what could be the issue here. isnt my station.nsc file supposed to get the media stream(ASF stream..also I am using a .avi file as input to the encoder..could that be an issue). this is an university project and any help would be beneficial, thanks.

mending vob files

Hi guys, I have four vob files, the first three of 1gb each, the last of about 500mb, of one movie, that I wish to make one long vob of. I tried cat *.vob | mencoder -oac copy -ovc copy -o movie.vob - but got this error about a 20 seconds or so into the copy: Too many audio packets in the buffer: (4096 in 8241152 bytes). Maybe you are playing a non-interleaved stream/file or the codec failed? For AVI files, try to force non-interleaved mode with the -ni option. adding -ni didn't help If I just cat them together the image is fine, but sound is completely buggerd. ffmpeg12 error error concealment problem

I've uploaded the file ffmpeg12-bug.ts to mplayerhq incoming. Play it with mplayer ffmpeg12-bug.ts -tsprog 2 -vop field,crop=1408:1056:256:16 -nosound -vfm ffmpeg and watch the ugliness. Now try the same with -vfm libmpeg2, it looks much better. Zoli

Hi mplayer-users and developers, I'm posting here because I got a tscc-codec problem and no answer/solution from the users list. The codec is in the codec-package of mplayer. I've a severe problem: I have here some lectures recorded with a screen capture tool developed by Techsmith. "selected video_out device" is incompatible with this codec is the first hint for me, so I tried different output devices and x11 color depth - no success. Has anybody a hint or solution to playback the video. Examples videos can be found eg. at http://porta.informatik.uni-freiburg.de/lectures/TI1/LocalReplay/AVI/ (This are the working ones). But the TI2 lecture has videos which aren't working with the described problems: http://porta.informatik.uni-freiburg.de/lectures/TI2/02-ss/Vorlesungsaufzei… There are also divx-videos but with a big disadvantage - the quality is too bad for because there are edge detection problems and aliasing effects. The results are ugly looking chars and edges. Not very wise to encode the video in divx without an appropiate filter to avoid these problems (sharpen filter eg). In Windows all playback is fine. I also copied the latest tsccvid.dll to the /usr/lib/win32 dir. The codec can be found at: http://www-i7.informatik.rwth-aachen.de/d/teaching/ws0304/modelchk/instruct… So here is my first check of the differences between the working and not working one: The fourcc id is the same: 0x63637374 (tsccvid.dll) The main difference is the resolution (800:600 to 1024:768) and the use of BGR 15-bit conversion to the output device VDec: using BGR 15-bit as output csp (no 0) (working with 800:600). The biBitCount of the video format has also changed from 16 to 24 bit. It seems that the colorspace/depth conversion fails with 1024:768. I suppose that the greater resolution can't be handled by the video filter/scaler to the output device. This is not very common resolution for mainstream video movies. Are there any helpful changes to be made to the code or codecs config to solve this problem or is the problem the BGR 15 bit conversion with this resolution ? mplayer still crashes with -fs

So for a long time I've seen mplayer crash any time I run it with "-fs". It used to only crash about 1/4 of the time, usually when starting a second or third movie listed on the command-line. The problem has gotten worse in recent CVS compiles, for the past month or so any use of "-fs" on the command line causes an instant crash. Pressing "f" after the movie is playing never crashes however. To debug this I had to do a fair amount of work since mplayer and xlibs conspire to make debugging such things hard. I added a call to XSynchronize(mDisplay,True) early in vo_init. Otherwise the error occurs too late whenever the X error comes back. It would be nice if mplayer supported the standard Xt option -synchronize. I also had to link against debugging versions of the xlibs otherwise the gdb backtrace doesn't seem to be able to dig its way out of the xlib calls into mplayer. I have found a few relatively minor bugs / problems with the JPEG video output driver. My system and hardware information is included at the bottom of this message. Three problems are described below. Brain damaged avi file from psmplay, mplayer chokes.

I'm uploading psmplay_sux.avi to mphq for checking. It's a raw rgb avi generated by the "psmplay" program which rips psx videos. A/V sync is totally broken and "decoding" pcm audio uses 80% cpu. The interleaving is completely broken, but it should work with -ni, and it doesn't. -nobps helps the situation slightly, but not much. Attempts to encode it with mencoder crash. I'm told the original video is ~15 fps (1/4 ntsc refresh), but psmplay generated a 38 fps (wtf?!) avi file. Basically it's entirely broken, but for some reason WMP manages to play the file fine... So, why can't mplayer? :) Rich
