[BUG] a non working wm9 encoded sample

Hi, I've uploaded to the mplayer ftp a wmv9 sample that doesn't seem to work with mplayer cvs or 090cvs. There is no video output and the console keeps spitting messages such as: ProcessInputError r:0x80040204=-2147220988 (keyframe: 1)% 0.9% 0 0 88% The files are wmv9_no_video.avi and wmv9_no_video.txt for a -v -v log. -- Best regards, Pierre

Mpeg2 Encoder.

Does anyoby know any good mpeg2 encoder for Linux or Windows or both? I want to encode the best mpeg2 from a DVD so that I will play this on mplayer and it will have both the best quality and the best structure for a smooth (without any problems at all) playback. Does it have to be Mpeg2-PS, Mpeg2-TS or what? I am not very familiar with all the mpeg2 formats. Please help. Thanks, regards, Kostas

Is there any way to get mplayer to "resample" the video frames into a certain frame rate the same way it can resample audio with -srate? Then I could recode the video. How to replicate: build MPlayer with X11 support, and run MPlayer from a terminal within X. Note how the Aqua frontend still appears in the dock. Now, log out and enter >console as your user name. Log in at the terminal, and run exec startx to get an XWindows session. Try to run MPlayer, and it will quit with some errors that I didn't write down, but that are plainly Cocoa/Carbon calls failing to connect to the Mac window server. Lastly, run this same copy of MPlayer from Apple's Terminal.app without specifying -vo. Note how MPlayer gives errors about not being able to access the X11 window server, and then moves on to using the Aqua frontend. I would tend to think that MPlayer should behave the same way if Mac window server is unavailable, but X11 is. Problem: --disable-macosx compile option does not effect above behavior at all. I thought I could just use two separate compiles of MPlayer to work around the problem above, but both compiles still launch the Aqua frontend. It seems to me that launching the Aqua frontend is covered by "Disable Mac OS X specific features." (from ./configure --help). It may also be worth checking for other Mac OS X specific features that should be disabled by this compiler tag but that are not. X11: latest binary install available through XDarwin.org gnome: current binaries available as part of the fink stable binary distro computer: iBook (colors) G3 300MHz that barely plays DivX acceptably under OS9, and I wanted to see if there was a way to do so without rebooting and decompressing the audio before viewing. mencoder crash/fail with some DVDs/VOBs

hello all some DVDs (and therefore VOB files ripped from these DVDs) don't work at all with mencoder. Mplayer Playlist problem (Bug?), input file problem etc.

Hello, a) firstly, I have been trying to use the playlist feature of the Mplayer but it crashes just a little while after the Mplayer starts playing the second mpeg2 video file. I.e. the first mpeg2 video file plays correctly, but when Mplayer opens the second mpeg2 file (from a video list file (videolist.txt) I have created), it crashes after the playback of just a few seconds. In the terminal, I give the command below: mplayer -playlist videolist.txt So, is there a Bug in the playlist feature of the Mplayer or what am I doing wrong? b) secondly, I have been playing a lot with the piping features of the mplayer. Since I have an VIA EPIA-M 1000 and the platform is very slow compared to fast PC's, I am looking for a way to make things faster with lesser processing power. For this reason, the piping I have been doing to pass Mplayer commands the way below: # cmd_program | mplayer -slave somefile.mpg I have it replaced by the much faster: # mplayer -input file=mplcmd.txt somefile.mpg ***But I had to use a structure like: --------- nothing seek +15 type=2 nothing pause --------- Please note that I include all the visible "new lines" between the commands, otherwise Mplayer does not get the commands at all. Also please note that the "nothing" command does not exist(!) but I have to use this so that: a) the Mplayer gets the first command I give (seek in this case). Otherwise if I had constructed the file like: ----- seek +15 type=2 pause ----- then for some reason the Mplayer would not(!) get the seek command but it would implement only the "pause" command! b) the Mplayer will first seek to the given time (+15) and DISPLAY(!) the first frame at this point and then pause there. Otherwise the MPlayer would seek to the given time but it would not display the frame at this point (instead it would display paused the frame before the seek!) but only after you un-pause (resume playback). So, it looks like we have two 'nice' Bugs in the MPlayer! Has anyone of you ever noticed the mentioned problems? I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks, best regards, Kostas
