Hi.
I'm uploading a sample (B5:LotR first trailer) to
/MPlayer/incoming/Legend-of-the-Rangers_I.rm
please check if it's out of sync for you, too.
Tested with yesterday's CVS looks like this:
for the first 5 seconds I hear audio, but video is black and then
it appears, about 5 seconds behind audio and never catches up.
It's also a quite jumpy. It's RV20, so I suppose I shouldn't be
surprised. HTH.

Hi,
this is a rather longish report, please be patient with me (:
I use MPlayer cvs version of today on an Athlon-850 box running Debian/GNU
Linux unstable (of today). I can provide further system details if needed.
I am using MPlayer to display movies on my tv. For this, I have an additional
pci graphics card in my box that is connected to the rgb "scart" input of
the tv using a simple circuit. Both the pci and the main agp card are driven
using the multi-head capabilities of XFree86 4.1.0; the screens are set up
as :0.0 (my monitor connected to the agp card) and :0.1 (the tv).
The tv screen offers square pixel resolutions (768x576@50Hz(i) and
640x480@60Hz(i)) as well as dvd-resolutions (720x576@50Hz(i) and
720x480@60Hz(i))
In the XF86Config-4 file I omitted the "Rightof" or "LeftOf" options in the
layout section, so the mouse cannot be moved from the main (:0.0) to the
second (:0.1) screen. It drives me crazy when the mouse cursor gets lost
because I hit the edge of the screen.
I wanted to use the -vm option to make MPlayer use an appropriate resolution
depending on the viewed material, and the -display option to select the
display. As the pci card is a Matrox Mystique (no XVideo) I use the x11
video output together with the -fs -zoom -sws 2 options to get fullscreen.
The movies are displayed correctly , but if I use the -vm option, MPlayer
"steals" the mouse cursor and places it on the tv screen. When MPlayer stops
playback, the mouse cursor is placed back on the main screen. So I cannot
use the main screen while MPlayer is running.
If I use the "RightOf" option in the XF86Config I can move the mouse back to
the main screen, but this invariably messes with the tv display, if a
resolution smaller than 768x576 is chosen by the -vm option. (the desktop
has a virtual size of 768x576 and moving the mouse leads to moving the
visible part of the desktop as soon as you hit the borders).
If I do not use the -vm option, the mouse cursor stays on the main screen,
and I can use the main screen while MPlayer is running. So I think the
"stolen" mouse cursor is not an intended behaviour.
I tried to read through the source to find out why there was a difference in
behaviour, but my C and X programming skills seem to be lacking. Reading
through x11_common.c and vo_x11.c I found the #ifdef'ed parts containing the
mode switch logic, but no hint that the mouse cursor was touched at all ):
My only guess would be that one of the XF86* library function calls does
something to the mouse cursor, but the respective man pages gave me no nore
clues ):
The question is: Can the -vm option be changed so that it does not place the
mouse cursor on the screen where the movie is displayed?

After trying different configure options, it seems that the problem is
caused by setting the debug level. The crash occurs when I use
./configure --disable-vidix --disable-vesa --disable-xinerama
--disable-runtime-cpudetection --enable-debug
(with any value placed after --enable-debug=), but not when I use
./configure --disable-vidix --disable-vesa --disable-xinerama
--disable-runtime-cpudetection
The technical specifications and logs are the same as for the earlier
bugreport, except that I'm now using gcc-3.0.4 rather than 2.95

Hi,
I've uploaded to incoming/ two real rv30 files (+-v -v logs) that play fine
in rp8 but stop too early in mplayer. The A-V sync goes wild around 1min
and the playback ends.

Hello!
For someone familiar with the code, this bug should be quite
easy to fix, I think.
SYMPTOMS
MPlayer won't play VCDs and SVCDs on some SCSI drives (properly).
When MPlayer tries to read a (S)VCD, /var/log/messages is
flooded with the following message:

With VCDs, there are sometimes frame drops.
With SVCDs, there are so many frame drops that playback halts and
MPlayer claims the system was "too slow". It isn't, though: 1 GHz
Athlon, 640 MB, U160-SCSI, Matrox G450 with mga_vid.
During the first few seconds before playback, one can see that the
cache is filled only very slowly, roughly less than double speed
(ca. 250 kB/sec), I would say, which is just not enough for SVCD,
which needs double speed, I think.
REASON
MPlayer uses the SCSI command "READ CD" (0xbe) to read (S)VCDs,
which consist of MODE 2 / FORM 2 tracks. Although many newer
SCSI CD-ROM drives implement this command, some don't - for
example Plextor 12x and 32x caddy drives and TEAC 55S.
Note that these drives are still fully SCSI compliant, since
the "READ CD" command is optional in the SCSI-II specification.
SOLUTION
MPlayer should test if the drive supports "READ CD", and if
it doesn't, it should fall back to a normal ten-byte "READ",
which is what "vcdxrip" (from the "vcdimager" package) uses:

In MPlayer-0.90pre5/libmpdemux/vcd_read.h, there is some code that
directly prepares SCSI commands to be sent ("#ifdef sun"), maybe
this piece of code can be used here for the "READ CD"-fallback, by
using
cdb.scc_cmd = 0x28; // code for ten-byte-read
instead of
cdb.scc_cmd = 0xBE;
and setting the block size of the CD-ROM drive appropriately to 2336.
A look into the function "__read_mode2" in
vcdimager-0.7.12/libvcd/vcd_image_linuxcd.c might help, because
this function is quite short (50 lines) and seems to contain
the suggested workaround.

I have (and want) are Plextors - where this bug occurs...

This happend while i resize the xvidix window to hight/width = 0
