hi. i found another fli file where playback isn't perfect. mplayer skips some parts. xanim doesn't play it correctly, too. in aaplay it's good, though. it's on the ftp as test2.fli.bz2, with mplayer output in test2.fli.txt. all other problems were probably the same as in engines.fli. bye christian ohm -- The human mind treats a new idea the way the body treats a strange protein -- it rejects it. -- P. problem with rm playback

hi. i found some real media files where playback doesn't work right. i've uploaded a sample as bastard.rm.bz2 and mplayer output as bastard.rm.txt. playback speed should be about three times faster (in realplayer the sample is about 12 sec long, mplayer needs about 36 sec), and the sound codec is detected, but doesn't work. bye christian ohm -- I haven't lost my mind -- it's backed up on tape somewhere.

My powerpc system: Linux manelan061.rz.tu-ilmenau.de 2.4.18-pre9 #1 Sun Feb 10 03:58:18 UTC 2002 ppc unknown My test stream (5mb prefix of movie): http://www.tu-ilmenau.de/~past-in/movie.avi I've modified libao2/ao_oss.c so that it doesn't touch /dev/dsp, but instead it writes to /usr/log/sound what it would otherwise write to /dev/dsp. (Patch included below for completeness.) On an i386 box, this gives me correct pcm data that I can listen to thus: $ sox -t raw -r 44100 -c 2 -w -s /usr/log/sound -t ossdsp /dev/dsp (And because the patch makes `-ao oss' behave essentially like `-ao pcm' (only very much faster (on my powerpc at least (bug in `-ao pcm'?))), it should give correct pcm on any machine.) But on my powerpc, this produces http://www.tu-ilmenau.de/~past-in/sound.bz2 which i've listened to as 16-bit little-endian signed and 16-bit big-endian signed and 16-bit little-endian unsigned and 16-bit big-endian unsigned, but it never sounds right. vcd device selection broken

Hy, I wanted to play a vcd from the second cdrom drive but there is no way to specify the second drive. I did: mplayer -vcd 1 /dev/cdrom2 ... Using usleep() timing Playing VCD track 1 CD-ROM Device '/dev/cdrom' not found! Playing /dev/cdrom2 Not an URL! CACHE_PRE_INIT: 0 [0] 0 pre:204800 eof:0 Cache fill: 9.60% (98304 bytes) header block 1 size: 0 Detected MPEG-PS file format! VIDEO: MPEG2 480x480 (aspect 2) 29.97 fps 3000.0 kbps (375.0 kbyte/s) ... This of course didn't work. The file was horribly broken. Just reading from /dev/cdrom2 with 2048 sectors isn't enough. This is just the thing I get when I try mplayer /dev/cdrom2 just without the lines: Playing VCD track 1 CD-ROM Device '/dev/cdrom' not found! Thank you for the great work ! With todays fix in the mov demuxer, even the second audio track on my photojpeg.mov works. Do you see any problems by adding "jpeg" to the fourcc line of ffmjpeg by default? Mplayer would then be able to play photo-jpeg compressed files using libavcodec without adding a single line of code ;) Shall I upload a sample again ? It somehow disappeared. S. Sommer
