Convert a MKV with H264 and AAC to anything other than a mkv container and without A-V Sync issues
The title pretty much says it all? Is there anyway to convert a h264 + aac mkv file to anything else without the A-V sync problem? I have tried to convert to avi but it didn't work out. An example would be very nice Thanks
I have h264+AC3 over here and am not yet been able to convert it to anything without A-V sync issues. Very disturbing. Even with dumping both streams and trying to rejoin them... I've got to try to extract both streams with some other player - ie: VLC and see if I can get anything out of it. On 2/28/07, James <genesis.kiith@gmail.com> wrote:

If you don't care about the audio format (and mp3 is enough for you), transcoding with -oac mp3lame typically works. But this isn't good enough for me. So far the only possibility for me was to extract the ac3 stream (mplayer -dumpaudio -dumpfile bla.ac3 in.mkv), to transcode the stream without a/v synchronization *but* with audio transcoding (mencoder -oac mp3lame -mc 0 -noskip ...) and to muliplex afterwards (typically chose VirtualDub on M$ for that, but mencoder -ovc copy *might* work as well). And praying that everything works out fine. Most times audio needs a constant shift, but is in sync after that constant has been figured out. I didn't have time to file a decent bug report yet, though.
