Yes it is possible.. The same way you encode other files. No difference

My Mencoder version:

MEncoder 2:1.0~rc2-0ubuntu13.1 (C) 2000-2007 MPlayer Team

--> Kubuntu Hardy

Get a newer version from SVN. Ubuntu is becoming the laughing stock in providing an outdated MEncoder which is about 3 years old...
