Bug in mplayer/mencoder 1.0pre7 and CVS regarding -audiofile / seperate audio file leads to crash or async video, take 10 seconds and try yourself
Hello list! Try this: mplayer video.avi -audiofile audio.mp3 When you feel lucky hit the 'q'-key to quit mplayer and it will crash instantly. Another issue is muxing the two streams together: mencoder video.avi -audiofile audio.mp3 -ovc copy -oac copy -o new.avi It will skip lots of frames and the result will be out of sync badly. It seems to crash, too, but not hard as above. Is your friend using the same files you are? If there's a bug it's probably specific to your files.. Rich

I could post a lot more info like the devs want on their website, but I guess it's happening to any x86 user anyway (I'm on a gentoo box and I also chattet to a Slackware user in #mplayer on freenode who suffered the same crash) so there's no point to tell you guys about the specifics of my system ;-)
Is your friend using the same files you are? If there's a bug it's probably specific to your files..

I had a convo in #mplayerdev with Compn today, and he has problems with pre7 under win32, too: "MPlayer interrupted by signal 11 in module: free_demuxer" "pre6 doesent sig11" "luckily it just exits here with the sig11 message, it keeps responding (so i dont have to kill it)" "its definitely something if pre6 works and pre7 doesent :)" Cheers Sebastian

MPlayer interrupted by signal 6 in module: free_demuxer - MPlayer crashed. This shouldn't happen. It can be a bug in the MPlayer code _or_ in your drivers _or_ in your gcc version. If you think it's MPlayer's fault, please read DOCS/HTML/en/bugreports.html and follow the instructions there. We can't and won't help unless you provide this information when reporting a possible bug.
Fixed. However, I know nothing about the a/v sync problem. Like I said I could never confirm that one. But I did find and revert the regression between pre6 and pre7 that made it crash for you. Rich
