Downloading a stream

Could someone please explain how I might save a video stream? It is not an ordinary stream like youtube. When I play it, and I click on the doun-arrow next to the icon of the firefox add-on "Video DownloadHelper", it displays many files whose names are all numbers, with the extension .f4f I downloaded one of those and it is not playable by any player I have (mplayer, vlc). So, how can I save the stream as an mp4 or any of the formats that mplayer or vlc can play? Thanx!!

"MPEG: No audio stream found -> no sound." problem for mpg file with sound

I recently updated my mplayer/mencoder version from r34401 to current versions and I found the the new mencoder versions are not able anymore to find audio streams in mpg files. As a result the encoding fails, see stdout/stderr below. I used the following command line: $ mencoder.exe "i:\example.mpg" -ovc xvid -xvidencopts fixed_quant=4 -oac mp3lame -o "i:\example.avi" The example file can be found here: https://www.dropbox.com/sc/qqwz0yl1k4zvcjv/AADt33oSBYKQUjQ9dqD4Sc5sa System info: Windows XP/SP3, 32 bit. mencoder files from the "official" links from the download section for binaries (for windows) from mplayerhq.hu <http://mplayerhq.hu> I did not update since 34401 and that version worked fine. I tried various version from this year (36573 was the oldest I could find), but they all have the same problem.
