Hi, I have an avi video with 5000 frames. The original frame rate is 15 frames/per second, and it takes 300 seconds to play the whole video. I want the video to play faster so that it takes less time to complete, so I change the frame rate using the following command: mencoder in.avi -o out.avi -ofps 100 -ovc copy However, out.avi still take around 300 seconds to complete, even though out.avi does have fps of 100fps according to the info displayed by mplayer. What command options should I use if I want the output video to be complete in 50 sec? Thanks. Shiyuan

Mencoder not stopping with x264

[I hope I'm not asking something that's already been answered but I can't find a 'search' function for the archives] I'm ripping some tracks off DVDs and I'd like to use the x264 codec as it gives much better video quality in a small file size than lavc However, it doesn't seem to want to stop on -endpos I can use mencoder dvd://1 -ss 00:52:32 -oac copy -ovc x264 -x264encopts bitrate=1200 - endpos 00:09:30 pass=1 -o /dev/null (and for the second pass, pass=2 -o filename.avi) Or I can use mencoder dvd://1 -chapter 12 instead of -ss and -endpos Either way, it starts in the right place but just doesn't stop. (It stops fine with the lavc codec in place of x264) I can stop it manually with Ctrl-C on both passes, and then trim it to length with mencoder -endpos 00:09:30 -oac copy -ovc copy filename.avi -o trimmed.avi but this is a bit tedious. Am I doing something wrong?

mencoder asks to "use -absf aac_adtstoasc" - but -absf is an unknown option

Hi, since I upgraded to Debian wheezy and mencoder version 1.1-4.7 (from Debian-multimedia) I am getting errors like this: Pos: 0.2s 6f ( 0%) 0.60fps Trem: 0min 0mb A-V:0.020 [0:0] [mp4 @ 0xdf8e40]malformated aac bitstream, use -absf aac_adtstoasc Error while writing frame. Input files are mpeg files recorded from DVB-T. I tried to add absf=aac_adtstoasc to -faacopts but then mencoder complains "Unknown suboption absf. error parsing option on the command line: -faacopts". The option is not documented in the manpage either. The version of the installed libfaac is 1.28-dmo3. I rolled back to an older mencoder that I built 2 years ago (MPlayer SVN-r31918), which works fine. What can I do to make the new mencoder work? Thanks for your help Oliver
