Hi, I have an avi video with 5000 frames. The original frame rate is 15 frames/per second, and it takes 300 seconds to play the whole video. I want the video to play faster so that it takes less time to complete, so I change the frame rate using the following command: mencoder in.avi -o out.avi -ofps 100 -ovc copy However, out.avi still take around 300 seconds to complete, even though out.avi does have fps of 100fps according to the info displayed by mplayer. What command options should I use if I want the output video to be complete in 50 sec? Thanks. Shiyuan

Hi, I wanted to combine 12 flash video files (from youtube) into a single avi file. So I did cat at Zachar*.flv > Zach_all.flv $ mencoder Zach_all.flv -o Zach_all.avi -forceidx -ovc copy -oac pcm The output shows skipping frames, and missing aspect information, as you see below. What do I need to do to fix that, so thet when I am transcoding into .avi, I do not get these skips and missing aspect info? Help with MPG video encoding

Hi, I've got a question on how to get the best possible MPG encoding of a movie source, "at any price" so to speak -- i.e., as many bits as the encoder needs to get the highest possible video quality. It appears to me that the MPG encoding process is introducing artifacts that are present regardless of the amount of "free reign" I give to the encoder with respect to quantization, bitrate, and the like. My bottom line question is thus: "Are these artifacts inherent in MPG encoding, or am I just not twiddling the knobs and dials on the encoder correctly?" Here's all the details ... My source is a mixed hard- and soft-telecined "movie" at 1080/60i that I'm trying to tanscode to 480/24p, soft telecined to 480/60i, for ultimate burning to an NTSC DVD-Video. When I use mencoder to inverse telecine, crop out the crud, expand back to the original letterbox ratio (it's 2.35:1, not 16/9), and 'encode' the video with HUFFYUV (422P), the resulting video looks stunning, with no 'blocking' artifacts to speak of. This, of course, is as expected. But when I encode the video in MPG2 or MPG4, even with vqscale=1 or vqscale=2, I see sometimes severe blocking in the resulting video. Is this because the chroma is being subsampled vertically and horizontally (4:2:0), or is it because 'vqscale' is (perhaps necessary but) not sufficient to get "maximum quality at any price" encoding? Howdy, I'd like to concatenate several files from a gopro into a single file. But I can't find the right mencoder options to use so that I don't re-encode the files. I've tried something like this, can you recommend something better/a fixed command line? Transcode from .MTS to wmv with MEncoder fails

I once again tried MEncoder to transcode a .MTS file from a Canon camcorder to WMV-format. As a starter: I prefer MEncoder over FFmpeg because of the volnorm filter. SegFault when using mencoder

Hello! I'm experiencing a problem, if I try to encode a DVD (using the h246enc script which itself use mencoder). If I force the script to use ffmpeg2 codec, I do not get the SegFault. I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 (Precise) and install all packages from the standard repositories. Because I'm not sure, if this is a problem which only exists on Ubuntu, I hope anyone can try it itself. Maybe it's a problem with this specific compilation, but it could also be a real bug in the used library. To be it seems to be a problem in the code itself. Because one of the versions uses the bundled libmpeg2 library, I post the report here. The error exists at least in the following versions of mencoder: MEncoder SVN-r33713-4.6.1 (libmpeg2 NOT external) (on Ubuntu 11.10 (Oneric)) MEncoder svn r34540 (Ubuntu), built with gcc-4.6 (C) 2000-2012 MPlayer Tea (libmpeg2 external) (on Ubuntu 12.04 (Precise)) I tried to add all available data I have. Maybe some of the developers can take a look on the debug output and give me a quick first evaluation of the bug. Pb seeking after encoding

Hello, I used to convert my records using : mencoder input.m2ts -oac mp3lame -lameopts cbr=128 -ovc copy -o output I can seek in input file but today something has changed and I can't seek in my output file. I get the error message below. What can I change in my convert options to solve this ?
