Hi, I have an avi video with 5000 frames. The original frame rate is 15 frames/per second, and it takes 300 seconds to play the whole video. I want the video to play faster so that it takes less time to complete, so I change the frame rate using the following command: mencoder in.avi -o out.avi -ofps 100 -ovc copy However, out.avi still take around 300 seconds to complete, even though out.avi does have fps of 100fps according to the info displayed by mplayer. What command options should I use if I want the output video to be complete in 50 sec? Thanks. Shiyuan

Hi, I wanted to combine 12 flash video files (from youtube) into a single avi file. So I did cat at Zachar*.flv > Zach_all.flv $ mencoder Zach_all.flv -o Zach_all.avi -forceidx -ovc copy -oac pcm The output shows skipping frames, and missing aspect information, as you see below. What do I need to do to fix that, so thet when I am transcoding into .avi, I do not get these skips and missing aspect info? Help with MPG video encoding

Hi, I've got a question on how to get the best possible MPG encoding of a movie source, "at any price" so to speak -- i.e., as many bits as the encoder needs to get the highest possible video quality. It appears to me that the MPG encoding process is introducing artifacts that are present regardless of the amount of "free reign" I give to the encoder with respect to quantization, bitrate, and the like. My bottom line question is thus: "Are these artifacts inherent in MPG encoding, or am I just not twiddling the knobs and dials on the encoder correctly?" Here's all the details ... My source is a mixed hard- and soft-telecined "movie" at 1080/60i that I'm trying to tanscode to 480/24p, soft telecined to 480/60i, for ultimate burning to an NTSC DVD-Video. When I use mencoder to inverse telecine, crop out the crud, expand back to the original letterbox ratio (it's 2.35:1, not 16/9), and 'encode' the video with HUFFYUV (422P), the resulting video looks stunning, with no 'blocking' artifacts to speak of. This, of course, is as expected. But when I encode the video in MPG2 or MPG4, even with vqscale=1 or vqscale=2, I see sometimes severe blocking in the resulting video. Is this because the chroma is being subsampled vertically and horizontally (4:2:0), or is it because 'vqscale' is (perhaps necessary but) not sufficient to get "maximum quality at any price" encoding? MEncoder skips duplicate frames even with -vf harddup and -noskip

Hello. I have an MP4 file which has many duplicate frames. I would like to encode it without skipping those frames, in order to preserve the complete audio track (because I ultimately want to extract the audio, and it ends too early whenever I try to encode it). I have tried using -vf harddup and -noskip, but MEncoder still drops the duplicate frames, creating a 1:22 minute file (or even 1:15) when the original was 2:30. Is there any way to fix this? Thanks in advance. How to enable support for libfaac in mencoder Windows binary?

I've been using the OSSFarm build of Mencoder to encode my videos for apple devices so far. However that build is outdated now. Recently I downloaded the mplayerhq.hu build for Windows and i'm getting an error saying that this version has been built without faac support. I have the libfaac dll with me, how do I get mencoder to use -oac faac with the newer builds? Thanks, Ramit

Problem to reencode moveis with Subtitles

Hi All , I am using the mencoder to embed subtitles to the movies to play using DLNA protocol to my philips TV . My first options is to transcoding the movie using mediatomb at that is working great expect because I can't pause , foward the movie . So my second options is run the menconder before I play it at TV . I am doing that at night when I go to sleep , but the most of the movie are lossing the syncronization between audio and video after at the middle of the movie . On interessting behavior is that when the problem occurs the screen get black and the first frames from movie shows and after that the movie continue at the same frame but without sync . I am using this command line to reencoder the movie with subtitle . mencoder "$(echo $_FILE | sed 's/...$/mkv/')" -noaspect -ffourcc divx -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vhq:vbitrate=2000:threads=2 -oac mp3lame -lameopts vbr=3 -mc 0 -noskip -sub "$_FILE" -o "$(echo $_FILE | sed 's/...$/legenda.avi/')" I am trying to preserve the quality of the movies also , at least 720p quality , but IF I could preserve the original would be awesome . Is it possible to make Mencoder encode video file DAR(Display Aspect Ratio) same as ffmpeg does?

Hi, I have read all parameters in mencoder to deal with DAR of result encoded file, but it seems can't set the result video's DAR correctly as ffmpeg does. The result file encoded by mencoder has two different DAR(detected by ffmpeg -i), but the file encoded by ffmpeg has only one DAR value.(also detected by ffmpeg -i). So: 1, Is it possible to make Mencoder encode video file DAR (Display Aspect Ratio) same as ffmpeg does?
