Hi I'm trying to rip a DVD with a LPCM audio track, but with recent builds (27081 and 26924) I just get a loud hiss. (win32 builds) Ripping from the AC3 audio track - No Problem mencoder dvd://2 -dvd-device D:\ -delay 0.2 -of lavf -lavfopts format=avi -oac lavc -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vbitrate=976:acodec=libmp3lame:abitrate=128 -ffourcc DX50 -vf scale=720:-10,harddup -aid 160 -ofps 25 -noodml -o "hiss.avi" -ss 291 -endpos 15 Any ideas ? setting widescreen flag

Hello, I have .mod files that I copy from hard-drive based camera JVC everio. Apparentely there is a bug in the files that the so called "widescreen flag" is not set when the camera records in widescreen (16:9), and as a result, when I play them in mplayer the movie appears squashed in 4:3. This article here explain that and gives Windows program as solution to the problem: http://www.elurauser.com/articles/JVC_Everio_mod_files.jsp (look at "SD video widescreen video bug" section) I am wondering if I can do similar thing with mencoder or ffmpeg as I am using linux system (Fedora 7). Laggy Playback

Hey Guys, I am trying to do flv conversion and having issues where the video play back is laggy as hell in the FLV player but when i download it to my computer it is fine. It is almost like it is not doing the video bitrate downscale to limit the FPS. I have included a copy of the cmd line i am using to conver this. I'm confident that these dv files used to work with mplayer/mencoder. So I believe that it is some recent update to some application or more likley library that has caused these problems. I'd noted that I'd had some problems exporting to dv with kino, but assumed that it was a kino problem. But given that I'm getting similar black screen problems with mplayer and mencoder, I presume that the problem is something more fundamental. FLV Encoding Troubles

I posted a month back with an issue encoding to WMV. It turned out I needed to limit frames per second down to 25 and raise the keyint up to apprx 250 or higher. This solved all my issues until I moved to a new, more powerful server. The new server is a 64-bit compared to the older 32-bit machine I had been running on. Immediately videos began to encode poorly. My server manager upgraded the convert code and the mencoder version thinking it would solve the problem, but still videos that are uploaded that are over 30fps (most are 1,000fps) come out laggy and playback slowly on most machines. To me to seems as though the code is not executing the keyint and/or the -ofps. Any help or hints is highly appreciated. subtitles have become hardcoded in video

Hi, this is really strange (to me at least). I used mencoder to encode a video. The container of the original video is an mkv and has three subtitle tracks in it. After the encoding one of the subtitle tracks has magically become hardcoded into the (newly encoded) video track! The video and audio are just fine except for the hardcoded subtitles. In the command line for mencoder there's nothing strange, as you can see (well it's a quite aggressive compression, but still...): mencoder -vf harddup -nosound -ovc x264 -x264encopts bitrate=300:bframes=4:subq=7:frameref=5:partitions=all:direct_pred=auto:trellis=1:b_pyramid:weight_b:8x8dct:me=umh:keyint=300:turbo:pass=1 vid1.mkv -o vid2.avi I used this setting counteless times on mkvs with multiple subtitles but this is the first time I get such a strange result. can not hardcoding subtitle

Hi list!, This is my first time to trying to hardcode subtitle. x264 encoding 1 Pass fantastic, 2 Pass terrible

I am trying to encode some png files and whenever I try to encode them in 2 passes the quality is very bad. I am using x264-snapshot-20080227-2245 so I thought of using a newer one, but there was an email in the archives suggesting that the rate control has problems in some of the newer versions.

It's purpose is to generate .flv format files, but it generates zero size files and fails with the error "The selected video_out device is incompatible with this codec" I'm going to go ahead and paste in the full command and full error output.
