FLV Conversion Problems

I limited the framerates to 25000/1001 via the -ofps command as suggested on here and it has really helped my WMV playback a lot. However, the WMV videos still play a little choppy and MOV videos are now converting very poorly. I am currently resizing videos to 1280x720 with a vbitrate of 3,168 Is it possible that the vbitrate I am converting too is causing the problems? Also it seems that it is mostly h.264 videos that are having this playback issue in both formats. Wrong FLV Height - Blurry line on bottom with pixel repeat

Hi there, I'm using: mencoder /home/www/temp/32_2.wmv -o /home/www/movie/32/32_2.flv -ovc vfw -xvfwopts codec=vp6vfw.dll:compdata=/home/www/vp6conf/400.mcf -oac mp3lame -lameopts cbr:br=64 -af lavcresample=22050 -vf yadif,crop=453:340:14:10,scale=480:360,flip -of lavf to create flvs with windows vp6 dll. Despite the scale settings of 480:360 I get a height of 368 (on windwos desktop flv players like VLC Media Player), but flvtool2 on linux says its 480x360... The 8 pixel of the additional height are just a blur repeat of the last "real" pixel on the bottom of the movie. Any Ideas what went wrong? Thanks for help or bug workaround.. mencoder skipping frames

Hello! I have captured some of my old video8 video material to my PC via mencoder tv:// -tv driver=v4l2:norm=pal:input=1:fps=25:alsa:amode=1:audiorate=48000:width=768:h eight=576 -oac lavc -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=huffyuv:format=422p:acodec=mp2:abitrate=224" everything fine so far. (I got about 8-10 skipped frames for one hour of video material). Now it is where everything goes bad :-( I am trying to convert this material to some format that needs less space. mencoder -oac copy -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg2video -o out.mpg in.avi gives me a skipped frame every 10 frames. To do the work I have used MEncoder dev-SVN-rUNKNOWN-4.1.2 on Gentoo. Is there anything obvious that I have done wrong? I have even tried this on an AMD and an Pentium4 machine. I have also tried using ac3 as an audio codec without any difference. Regards, Manuel

In PAL 25fps it starts with a I-Frame or named keyframe till the next I-frame wich is 0.48 seconds later. Every frame is (1 sec / 25 fps) = 0.04 sec. So every 12th is the start of a new GOP. The length of a sound-frame depends on the Samplerate, sampled at 44100, the framelength is half of sound sampled at 22050. So frame length of video and audio differ they will be exactly the same only every now and then. As an example in PAL DVB with sound sampled at 48000 it will be every 1.2 sec. Variable frame rate from rtsp source

Hi all, i'm trying to acquire an rtsp video stream from an axis-210 ip camera. I'm using the following command line (mencoder recompiled from svn, 20 of may 2008): mencoder rtsp://192.168.0.210/mpeg4/media.amp -ovc copy -o test.avi Everything works fine, and the frame rate is guessed correctly. The problem occurs when the frame rate of the stream is changed from the camera's web interface (say from 12 to 13, or from 6 to 12 fps). In this case, mencoder exit immediately and quietly, with no error or log report. The recorded video is ok up to the point where the frame rate changed. I've tried to play with the -fps option, without any luck. Do you know if there is any command line option to overcome this problem, and/ or any pointers to relevant part of the source code? As an aside, i've notice that ffmpeg does not suffer of the above problem, and the resulting video is correctly played by Mplayer with the variable frame rate. I assume that is because ffmpeg uses its own rtsp implementation, instead of live555. Thanks in advance walter

mencoder starter needs help

I am a beginner who has a move file in ac3 audio format and mpeg2 video format. mplayer can play the video with no hassles. Although Windows media player will not play the audio, which is why I would like to encode this file into a format that can be played anywhere no matter which codecs are present. I am assuming the file will be big as this will lose all forms of compression, but are there any other disadvantages?I am not familar wit encoder to even know where to start.I tried the following:C:\mplayer\1.0rc2>mencoder C:\goat.mpg -o goat.avi -of avi -ovc raw -oac copyThe output was not what I expected. The video would hardly move, and the sound was all distorted with plenty of jitter.Can anyone help me ?
