Hi, we have a strange problem with joining video. We would like to edit video in non-linear video editor KDEnlive http://kdenlive.sf.net, but we need to edit only start and final part (add short clips with fade out and in created from pictures). We had idea to split video to 3 parts: beginnig (10s), middle, end (10s) by mencoder edit beginning and end and join again (to evoid render whole video in KDEnlive). No problem to split it. But KDEnlive change samplerate of sound from 32 000 Hz to 48 000 Hz and it is problem to join it with middle. So we repare this by mencoder. But we are not able to join again. Mencoder writes: All video files must have identical fps, resolution, and codec for -ovc copy, but these videos should be same?????? Jirka (GeBu) These videos are here: ftp://mplayer:mplayer@147.229.23.250/ Start from KDEnlive 2-start-mod.avi Start after reparing samplerate 2-start-mod2.avi Midle 2-stred-5s.avi End from KDEnlive 2-konec-mod.avi End after reparing samplerate 2-konec-mod2.avi Try to join 2-stred-5s.avi and 2-start-mod2.avi This is from Windows, but on Linux it is the same mencoder.exe 2-stred-5s.avi 2-konec-mod.avi -oac copy -ovc copy -o pp.avi MEncoder 1.0rc1-3.4.2 (C) 2000-2006 MPlayer Team CPU: Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 2.00GHz (Family: 15, Model: 2, Stepping: 7) CPUflags: Type: 15 MMX: 1 MMX2: 1 3DNow: 0 3DNow2: 0 SSE: 0 SSE2: 0 Compiled with runtime CPU detection. success: format: 0 data: 0x0 - 0x11ebbd4 AVI file format detected. Joining flv quality problem
by totob＠libero.it 13 Feb '07

13 Feb '07

Hello, Im trying to join two .flv files through the following command: mencoder -noskip -mc 0 -of lavf -oac mp3lame -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=flv first.flv second.flv -o final.flv -lavfopts i_certify_that_my_video_stream_does_not_use_b_frames The join operation is succesfull, but I have a problem since in the final.flv the second video loses a lot of quality. I tried to make a join of same file in order to have a final.flv that loops 2 times same video and in the second loop the quality of the video is very poor, while first loop is perfect. How can I correct this? ------------------------------------------------------ Passa a Infostrada. ADSL e Telefono senza limiti e senza canone Telecom http://click.libero.it/infostrada13feb07

multiplex xvid + vbr mp3 => async
by Timo Schroeter 12 Feb '07

12 Feb '07

Hi, I multiplexed a vbr xvid movie with a vbr mp3 audiostream (mencoder movie.avi -ovc copy -oac copy -audiofile audio.mp3 -noskip -o test.avi) and the result was async. I also tested it with a cbr mp3 and it worked fine. Does anyone have a hint how to fix it? I want to use vbr mp3... I am using the windows build from http://oss.netfarm.it/mplayer-win32.php and the linux debian packed from http://debian.netcologne.de/debian-multimedia.org (MEncoder 1.0rc1-4.1.2). Cheers, Timo Schroeter

mencoder producing bad flv?
by Steve Clark 12 Feb '07

12 Feb '07

Hi, I'm trying to create flv by concatenating two input .flv video files as follows: mencoder.exe -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=flv input1.flv input2.flv -o output.flv I find that while the inputs are playable in a browser based plugin (e.g. flowplayer), the output is not. Even flvtool2 cannot recognize the output, although Windows Media player can. Any ideas? Thanks, Steve.

Mencoder/On2 Workflow Video Expert Needed
by Robert Sandie 11 Feb '07

11 Feb '07

Apologize for the non-technical question in advance but my company is looking for a consultant to assist with a number of problems we are having with On2/Mencoder Video integration. We are having multiple issues with Audio/Video syncing for large videos and workflow dilemma's among various file formats such as .MOV into FLV format. Have you already built and customized this type of workflow before? Shoot me an email, we need to talk. - rob

I've only used it with absolute paths. Assuming no other causes, maybe something in the code which interprets the the path for mf:// type source or something about the way you need to type it? Checking and understanding the source code is a bit beyond my skill level to assess . -- Dave

Converting DVD to mpeg2 ts
by Ken Hilliard 10 Feb '07

10 Feb '07

I need to convert a DVD to a mpeg2 ts so I can stream it to a Amino STB via RTSP. I read somewhere that mencoder can do this but all the documentation talks about is transcoding the VOB files. In my case I need only re-muxing the files to mpeg2 ts. Can anyone provide any command line details (or faq) on how to do this with mencoder or any other solution? Thx in advance
