Hi, I encoded video from DV camera, which I cut and export by KDEnlive. I use this mencoder script (on Debian Etch): ** 1. PASS ** mencoder in.avi -o /dev/null -oac mp3lame -lameopts cbr:br=64:mode=3:aq=0 -ovc x264 -x264encopts bitrate=700:pass=1:turbo=1:qcomp=0.8:frameref=5:bframes=4:subq=6:me=umh:b_pyramid:weight_b:partitions=all:8x8dct -vf pp=lb,scale=768:576 -aspect 4:3 ** 2/3. PASS ** mencoder in.avi -o out.avi -oac mp3lame -lameopts cbr:br=64:mode=3:aq=0 -ovc x264 -x264encopts bitrate=700:pass=2:qcomp=0.8:frameref=5:bframes=4:subq=6:me=umh:b_pyramid:weight_b:partitions=all:8x8dct -vf pp=lb,scale=768:576 -aspect 4:3 I have -lameopts cbr:br=64:mode=3:aq=0, but when I play output video in mplayer it shows me: 2 channel. In VLC it shows 1 channel What is wrong? is it possible to convert files .vro into files .vob?
by Roberto Sebastiani 18 Feb '07

Hi. I've a video-camera which produces 30-minutes mini-dvd's in "video-vr" mode : files .vro, .ifo (plus .bup). Do anybody know if it is possible to convert them into standard .vob files *preserving the description of the scenes*? thanks a lot Roberto --

2-pass encoding causes loop near end
by John Brown 17 Feb '07

I am using MPlayer/MEncoder dev-SVN-r22220-4.1.2 on Kubuntu 6.10 with a Pentium IV 3 GHz CPU and a Radeon 9200SE (RV280) video card, and on-board Realtek AC'97 audio. Compiler info: gcc version 4.1.2 20060928 (prerelease) (Ubuntu 4.1.1-13ubuntu5) GNU assembler 2.17 Debian GNU/Linux GNU ld version 2.17 Debian GNU/Linux For example, when I specify -endpos 20: Pass 1: a) mplayer -identify reports length = 16.47 b) Movie plays 20.2 seconds with message: a52: CRC check failed! 0.008 ct: 0.068 475/472 1% 0% 0.5% 0 0 a52: error at resampling A: 20.2 V: 20.1 A-V: 0.011 ct: 0.073 482/479 1% 0% 0.5% 0 0 at the end, but otherwise plays normally. Pass 2: a) mplayer -identify reports the same incorrect length b) Movie plays 20.2 seconds with message: a52: CRC check failed! 0.219 ct: 0.304 254/251 1% 0% 0.6% 0 0 a52: error at resampling A: 20.2 V: 20.1 A-V: 0.021 ct: 0.353 266/263 1% 0% 0.5% 0 0 then loops back to (apparently) 16.47 s and then continues to the end (20.2 s). If I specify -endpos 30, the problem occurs at about 25 seconds, but it happens near the end when I encode the full episode, and with other files. I use the following script: ################### encode_dvd.sh MPLAYER=mplayer MENCODER=mencoder if [ !$ABITRATE ]; then ABITRATE=192 fi #echo "ABITRATE = "$ABITRATE if [ !$VBITRATE ]; then VBITRATE=2000 fi #echo "VBITRATE = "$VBITRATE if [ "" = "$INNER" ]; then INNER=656:448 fi #echo "INNER = "$INNER if [ "" = "$OUTER" ]; then OUTER=704:480 fi #echo "OUTER = "$OUTER if [ "" = "$EXTRAS" ]; then EXTRAS="-quiet" fi #echo "EXTRAS = "$EXTRAS echo `date` "Started Encoding $1 to $2 ..." echo `date` "Started Encoding $1 to $2 ..." >> log.txt #$MENCODER "$1" $EXTRAS -of mpeg -mpegopts format=dvd:telecine -vf scale=$INNER,\ #expand=$OUTER,harddup -oac lavc -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg2video:\ #aspect=4/3:vbitrate=$VBITRATE:vrc_maxrate=5000:acodec=ac3:abitrate=$ABITRATE:\ #vrc_buf_size=1835:keyint=12:nr=100:trell:mv0:mbd=2:cbp:dc=10:predia=2:dia=2:\ #vrc_eq="(tex+10^8*mcVar)^0.6":vpass=1:turbo -ofps 24000/1001 -srate 48000 \ #-af lavcresample=48000 -aspect 4/3 -o $2 >> log.txt 2>&1 echo `date` "Pass 2 Encoding $1 to $2 ..." echo `date` "Pass 2 Encoding $1 to $2 ... Getting frame position
by Volker 17 Feb '07

Hi all. I want to me use of the zones option in h264 encoding. Encode the credits with a lower bitrate. A frame-range is required. But how do i get to know the frame-position on playback? Mplayer doesn't tell. Is there a way to make it do that? Regards

h264 muxed into avi
by john terragon 17 Feb '07

17 Feb '07

Hi I read somewhere that some features of h264 are not supported by the avi container (for example b-frames) and that using mencoder to create avi with a h264 video track would make those videos readable only with mplayer. I am not sure I understand what this means: -Does it mean that the unsupported features of the h264 track (like the b-frames) are still there but can only be correctly interpreted by mplayer (and therefore that I could hypothetically extract the h264 video from the avi container, put it into an mp4 contained, with mp4box for example, and use all the features with other players too)? -or does it means that if I use h264 features when encoding with x264 they will be somehow lost (or disabled) when the video is muxed into the avi container? FFmpeg has the parameter "-qscale=10", but the following command line fails: mencoder input.avi -of lavf -lavfopts i_certify_that_my_video_stream_does_not_use_b_frames -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=flv:quality=10 -oac mp3lame -o output.flv "Option lavcopts: Unknown suboption qscale" Thank you very much Markus

[MPlayer-users] how to create thumbnail using mplayer?

The Wanderer wrote: >This is not done with MEncoder, but with MPlayer: >mplayer -vo jpeg -frames 1 -ss <offset which gets you to the >appropriate >point in the video> Thank you! It works but even changing the value of -ss option it always takes first frame. How can i calculate the offset if, for example, Id like to take the one frame of the third second of movie? Do you think it is a matter of codec (im using extracting from .flv file)? thanks again! ------------------------------------------------------ Passa a Infostrada.
