MEncoder download for MacIntel?
by Antonio Pazienti 22 Feb '07

22 Feb '07

Hi all, I am a new Mplayer-on-manIntel user and really enjoy the last release of mplayer in a confortable dmg package. I downloaded it from http:// www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/dload.html and installed it without problems. However I was wondering: why isn't MEncoder included? Is there a similar package for MEncoder? Can anybody tell me the link? thanks a lot .nesco.

First frame

Hi, In order to replace ffmpeg with mencoder, I have one more problem. Is it possible to pick the first frame of a video with mencoder? A second question. Exists this "i_certify_that_my_video_stream_does_not_use_b_frames" still in the CVS version? Thank you very much Markus Doppelbauer

need to add audio to movie question

I used: .ogg audio file *.png images for video ran: mencoder mf://*.png -delay 20 -mf w=320:h=240:fps=5:type=png -ovc copy -audiofile Open_Studios_theme.ogg -oac copy -o test.avi Now, what do I change in command to convert to new.mp4? $ mencoder test.avi -o new.mpg -ofps 25 -vf scale=352:288,harddup -of lavf -lavfopts format=mpg:i_certify_that_my_video_stream_does_not_use_b_frames -oac lavc -lavcopts acodec=mp2:abitrate=224 -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg1video:vrc_buf_size=327:keyint=15:vrc_maxrate=1152:vbitrate=1152:vmax_b_frames=0 The above command created a .mpg movie. I want to make the .avi file compatible with as many players as possible. I am computer-challenged, and my efforts to add mp4creator have thus far been futile. Can I use mencoder, or not? :) Thanks, Tom

Output file's size limit
by Mike Lee Toris 21 Feb '07

Hi, I'm trying to generate correct and quality VOB files from various sources. It works fine. MEncoder is very powerful. The VOB are correctly encoded. But, in order to have these VOBs on Video DVD, VOB files should not be larger than 1.048.544 kbytes. There are some tools to cut into muxed mpeg2 files. But I was wondering if there is an option into MEncoder (that I have not yet discovered!) to perform this cutting. The trick would be to give a file size option, and MEncoder would create numbered files at the given size until there's no more to encode. I read some posts about EDL, but I'm not quite sure that it would be the correct and best way. In my mind, MEncoder is the best to know where it can cut the files, especialy if a file size is given. Any clue? Thx a lot. Mikee ____________________________________________________________________________________ TV dinner still cooling? Check out "Tonight's Picks" on Yahoo! creating movie from .png images
by Tom Poe 20 Feb '07

20 Feb '07

I want to create a 1:15 minute video using .png images and soundtrack. I created 4 images, then duplicated them into sets of 22 each, and then set frame per second to 1 fps. I then ran: $ mencoder mf://*.png -mf w=320:h=240:fps=1:type=png -ovc copy -audiofile Open_Studios_theme.ogg -oac copy -o done1.avi This created done1.avi and it plays in my MPlayer. then, $ mencoder done1.avi -o VCD.mpg -ofps 25 -vf scale=352:288,harddup -of lavf -lavfopts format=mpg:i_certify_that_my_video_stream_does_not_use_b_frames -oac lavc -lavcopts acodec=mp2:abitrate=224 -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg1video:vrc_buf_size=327:keyint=15:vrc_maxrate=1152:vbitrate=1152:vmax_b_frames=0 This created VCD.mpg and it plays in my MPlayer. If I set the frame per second to 1, instead of 25, it causes fatal error, as the codec doesn't support 1/1 second frames. Ideally, I would like to know how I might use 4 images, and stretch each image over 22 seconds, thus creating an .avi movie that runs at 25 frames per second. Any help appreciated. Tom

Video/Audio asynchronous
by Markus Bonet 19 Feb '07

19 Feb '07

Hi, I am doing some conversions between mpeg2 (TS) to mpeg4 (vxid) via mencoder. The TS isn't demultiplexed as I am using the TS directly as input. When done, the result is slightly asynchronous. mencoder itself reports a very slight delay (0,048s) but the result is even more asynchronous. Setting -delay 0 didn't help. Any clue? Markus

[PATCH] xmms plugins in ~
by Nicolas George 19 Feb '07

19 Feb '07

Hi. If mplayer is compiled with support of the xmms library, it looks for plugins itself. That is done in libmpdemux/demux_xmms.c, function init_plugins. The function explores the directory XMMS_INPUT_PLUGIN_DIR, which will be something like /usr/lib/xmms/Input. The problem is that xmms plugins can live in ~/.xmms/Plugins too. It is especially necessary for people who do not have write privileges in the global plugin directory. The attached patch adds probing of this directory. Regards, -- Nicolas George
