Single Screen Capture from FLV?

newb to the command-line video manipulating. trying to automate the creation of thumbnails for videos so i don't have to do full-screen captures and modify them. and mencoder/mplayer seems to be one of the few command-line tools that will play FLV's *and* create images. i want to capture a single 80x80 jpeg from an FLV. at the very least, a jpeg from an AVI. using mplayer, i managed to create a butt-load of jpegs even though i set maxfiles to 1. is there a way to get mencoder or mplayer to output just a single screen capture with the dimensions 80x80? and is there a way to tell it which frame to grab? any suggestions about command line parameters i would use to accomplish this? ascii video

hi there, i've been producing ascii video using caca as the video out for mplayer like this ./mplayer -vo caca -framedrop film.mov what i want to do is save this ascii video to file, the source of the original format is 720x576 pal 25fps and this is the format i would like to save the ascii as, my guess is i need to pipe it to mencoder to save the file but I'm unsure how, anyone know? thanks 2b http://www.c6.org

That's what you get for cutting and pasting from the man page. Don't you hate that? subfont text scale

Hi, I am using mplayer (1.0pre8-3.i586) on Suse Linux 9.2 I want to use mencoder to hardcode .srt subtitles (ie embedded the subtitles permanently) into an avi film. Using a command like: mencoder inputfilm.avi -ovc lavc -oac lavc -sub inputsub.srt −subfont-text-scale 3 -o outputfilm.avi puts subtitles into the film but appears to ignore the subtitle scale, the subtitles comes out too big irrespective of the scale. I am using a .ttf true type font and have success at changing the size of the subtitles when I play the inputfilm.avi with mplayer but not when I use mencoder. I removed the fonts in /usr/share/mplayer to force it to use my ~/.mplayer/subfont.ttf I set up my config file with these options: subfont-text-scale=3 subfont-osd-scale=3 font=/home/robert/.mplayer/subfont.ttf How can I get mencoder to change the size of the subtitles? .avi with mpeg-4/mp3 to .avi with mpeg-2/mp3

Hello, I have a bunch of files that I ripped from my dvd's into .avi/mpeg-4/mp3 format for a networked multimedia player (Dedicated Devices). For reasons that I won't go into here, I returned that unit and purchased a Buffalo LinkTheater networked player. The LinkTheater is nice, but it won't play mpeg-4 video or anything other than mp3 audio. I want to convert all of my .avi files using mpeg-4/mp3 to .mpg files using mpeg-2/mp3. I managed to convert once, but the video was choppy and I kept on receiving error messages. Can someone point me in the right direction for this? I would prefer to batch process the files... MPEG2 problem on standalon DVD player

Hi all, I'm having problem to play in my standalone DVD player (Panasonic S49) a mpeg2 file made with mencoder. On TV screen I see appearance "light green square blocks". If I see mpeg2 file on my computer with mplayer - all fine. I made: step1: input stream - AVI source (1.avi) step2: tunning mencoder for producing MPEG2+AC3 output file: mencoder -vf scale=720:576,harddup -of mpeg -mpegopts \ format=dvd -srate 48000 -af lavcresample=48000 -ofps 25 \ -ovc lavc -oac lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg2video:aspect=4/3: \ vrc_buf_size=1835:vrc_maxrate=9800:vbitrate=4900:keyint=15: \ acodec=ac3:abitrate=192:trell:mbd=2:dc=10:cbp:mv0 1.avi -o 1.mpg result: high quality MPEG2+AC3 file (if play on computer with mplayer) step3: Using "DVDlab 1.53 Pro" for authorizing DVD image included 1.mpg step4: Burn DVD-Video disk with Nero 7 Result of my works see above :( I think maybe problem with my standalone player. I repeat all steps, but used Canopus ProCoder 2 as transcode tool. Result - surprise! All fine. And standalone player and computer. If to say the truth, best quality file, that file produced with mencoder :) Probably anybody know the how and why of things. Which parameters should I tune in mencoder to correct this problems? reg: Mencoder A-V out of sync

I am using mencoder_pre8 along with x264 lib to encode mpegts with mpeg2 to mpegts h264 codec. the problem is it is going outof sync even i use -ss 1 option for mplayer. the timestamps it is showing while playing is proper but going out of sync. the command i used is mencoder -of lavf -lavfopts format=mpegts:i_certify_that_my_video_stream_does_not_use_b_frames -ovc x264 -oac lavc -lavcopts acodec=mp2:abitrate=32 -x264encopts bitrate=450 -o outfile.ts infile.ts one more problem i am facing is when is encoded this file and play with mplayer_pre8 it playing @50 FPS.but mplayer_pre7 is playing perfect. thank u ramu --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Transferring video to an iPod

Hello, Since video iPods spread more and more and the questions how to fill them with Linux seem to grow, I wondered if some expert here could translate this ffmpeg commandline into the mencoder equivalent *or* tell me a way to get mencoder to convert "any format" to something ffmpeg can use. Here is the ffmpeg call: ffmpeg -i $file -b 600 -r 29.97 -s 320x240 -vcodec mpeg4 -ab 128 -acodec aac $tmpout Use case: I want to bring my onlinetvrecorder.com-recordings in WMV format onto my iPod. From 3gp to flv

Hi to list here, i met a problem when i try to convert a 3gp file to flv, here is the command i used: mencoder Mov23435.3gp -ffourcc FLV1 -of lavf -ovc lavc -oac lavc -lavcopts vcodec=flv:acodec=mp3:abitrate=48:vbitrate=500:mbd=2:mv0:trell:v4mv:cbp -srate 22050 -o play.flv -lavfopts i_certify_that_my_video_stream_does_not_use_b_frames the output quality(paly.flv) is bad, and i try to convert the 3gp file to avi use command: mencoder Mov23435.3gp -o play.avi -ovc lavc -oac lavc -lavcopts acodec=mp3:vcodec=msmpeg4v2 -of lavf -lavfopts format=avi but nothing improved with play.avi Did i miss any parameter? Is there any way to make the output play more fluency(smoothly?)? Any suggestion would be much appreciated! and sorry for my english. -- yours, dbs
