What is the option for .configure that includes CD playing through CDROM-data-cable?

I've downloaded the latest tar ball and want to configure then be able to play CDs through the data-cable I hove no sound cable from my CDROM. So how I can include this feature at configure stage?

Hello, on http://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/news.html page I see new MPlayer version "MPlayer 1.0rc1" and this: "The highlights of this release are native VC-1/WMV3, On2 VP5 and VP62 (used in some Flash video files) decoding" Is this mean that now we can encode .wmv/.avi/.mpeg etc. to .flv files with better quality???? How? I need command for that... Now I using this: mencoder input.wmv -o out_file.flv -of lavf -oac mp3lame -lameopts cbr:preset=56 -mc 0 -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=flv:vbitrate=5000:mbd=2:mv0:trell:v4mv:cbp:last_pred=3 -srate 22050 -lavfopts i_certify_that_my_video_stream_does_not_use_b_frames what I must change? i have added the following parameters and sofar it seems to work on most files: >mencoder input.avi -oac mp3lame -lameopts preset=64 -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=msmpeg4v2:mbd=2:keyint=5:subcmp=2:dia=2:mv0:autoaspect -ofps 24 -o output.avi my tests were mostly done with divx encoded input files and when ignoring "-ofps 24", it seemed to have problems.. adding "autoaspect" removed the ODML warning, however I found out that the issue was not related to that, but the missing "-ofps". i am not sure if all the lavcopts are necessary though, can't find documentation about all of them.. -e __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? DivX in 1.0rc1

I've just upgraded to 1.0rc1 (from 1.0pre7try2) and now mencoder complains that 'divx4' is an unknown suboption for -ovc. I have divx4linux (5.0.5) installed. What's the special about the I-frames in libavcodec?

I have a dvd recorder Samsumg HR-725, with support for playing divx videos. It plays well the videos I created with mencoder using xvid. It also plays ok videos I downloaded from internet with DX50 fourcc (I think they are divx). But if I use libavcodec then there's a strange effect: it seems the I-frames are not displayed, so the image is merging with the previous scene. I also use the program avidemux to edit videos. This program has a mode call smart copy, it copies the original frames until it gets to a place I edited then it regenerates there the frames until the next I-frame. If I cut some frames right at the beginning of the video, obviously the first frame it has to create is a I-frame. If I edit a xvid video, when I play this edited video in the dvd recorder, the first frames (the ones created by avidemux) have the same problem I mentioned above. When the second I-frame is reached (an original one from xvid) the problem fixes and rest of the video looks ok. I think avidemux uses ffmpeg for re-encoding the edited frames, and I think ffmpeg is something related to libavcodec, isn't it? So I suppose there should be something special, something different in the I-frames that libavcodec creates. Is there any way to create I-frames more compatible with xvid or divx? Here is an example of a command line I use for libavcodec: mencoder -noodml -o test_av.avi \ -oac copy \ -ffourcc DX50 \ -ovc lavc \ -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vbitrate=1033:mbd=2:vstrict=1:vpass=1:turbo:vqmax=4:v4mv:trell \ -vf-add scale=608:464 -zoom -sws 9 \ -vf-add harddup \ -force-avi-aspect 4:3 \ video2.avi I tried several things. Setting fourcc to DIVX and XVID, use b-frames, remove the vstrict option (which I need for another dvd player), or using mpeg quantizers. No change at all. Any ideas? -- Pepe

Decoding h.264 issues

Hello. I've recorded some HDTV shows as .ts files that contain mpeg4 avc video and ac3 audio. I use a windows build from 25th October - the latest I could get - of mencoder. I have trouble decoding the video without errors, like this: [h264 @ 00C858F0]PAFF interlacing is not implemented [h264 @ 00C858F0]illegal short term buffer state detected [h264 @ 00C858F0]concealing 4080 DC, 4080 AC, 4080 MV errors Pos: 0.7s 22f ( 0%) 2.25fps Trem: 0min 0mb A-V:-0.084 [0:189] 1 duplicate frame(s)! It also sometimes has to skip a frame or has an error decoding it. The result is that the image is often garbled, partly so much that the real video can't be recognized anymore. I know however that other h.264 decoders (such as those that come PowerDVD 7 or Elecard avc Plugin for Mpeg Player) can deal with the captured .ts stream much better. Is there a way to tell mencoder to use another direct show decoder such as one of the mentioned ones, or else is there another way to get rid of the problem. Up till now the only way to make use of the captured video is by using GraphEdit, using the mentioned decoders and encoding it right on to another format such as xvid - but this is a very suboptimal way as I found no way to resize the video (from 1920x1088 to 1280x720). MEncoder using x264 DEV-CVS builds (Windows)

Hello, I am trying this tool for last to days, it looks a lot better than other with big GUIs. I still would like to find out few things: 1. I noticed that latest version doesn't support x264 encoding on Windows. But there are some other builds like: "MEncoder dev-CVS-060515-06:00-4.0.3 (C) 2000-2006 MPlayer Team" which supports x264 encoding on Windows platform. Where I could get the latest build from dec-CVS? Available codecs: copy - frame copy, without re-encoding. Doesn't work with filters. frameno - special audio-only file for 3-pass encoding, see DOCS. raw - uncompressed video. Use fourcc option to set format explicitly. nuv - nuppel video lavc - libavcodec codecs - best quality! vfw - VfW DLLs, read DOCS/HTML/en/encoding-guide.html. qtvideo - QuickTime DLLs, currently only SVQ1/3 are supported. xvid - XviD encoding x264 - H.264 encoding 2. Next one, if I am using x264 encoding, do I need something else?... Maybe x264.exe? 3. Can Mencoder use MKV container as output. This is all questions I would like to find out.

Skipped (dropped) frames result in shorter video (only 69% of what should be)

Hi, I have been using mencoder to rip DVDs quite successfully for some time. Recently, while ripping titles from several DVDs (all of them from the same series) I have encountered the following problem: the produced AVI files, when played back, proved to be shorter that intended. I have experimented with several different durations and determined that the produced AVI files ran only 69% of the time I set with the -endpos parameter. This 69% was consistent across a wide range of duration times. Because the video at the end points (as set for the ripping) of the original DVD and the ripped file looked the same, I have concluded that some frames must have been skippd. Because of this problem the audio (which seems to be ripped correctly) was out of sync with the video. When I ran: mplayer dvd://1 -dvd-device /media/cdrom -nosound -vo null -benchmark to determine the type of the video, I got just: Starting playback... V: 174.0 5214/10428 0% 0% 0.0% 0 0 There were no messages about '24000/1001fps progressive NTSC' or about switching frames. When playing the DVD with: mplayer dvd://1 -dvd-device /media/cdrom I saw among others: VIDEO: MPEG2 720x480 (aspect 3) 29.970 fps 7400.0 kbps (925.0 kbyte/s) The DVD played just fine. The script for the 2-pass ripping which I used was: --- mencoder dvd://<title-number> -dvd-device <video-ts-dir> -ovc frameno -o frameno.avi -oac mp3lame -aid 128 mencoder dvd://<title-number> -dvd-device <video-ts-dir> -oac copy -vf crop=720:480:0:0,scale=576:272 -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vbitrate=1000:v4mv:mbd=2:trell:cmp=3:subcmp=3:mbcmp=3:autoaspect:vpass=1 -o /dev/null mencoder dvd://<title-number> -dvd-device <video-ts-dir> -oac copy -vf crop=720:480:0:0,scale=576:272 -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vbitrate=1000:v4mv:mbd=2:trell:cmp=3:subcmp=3:mbcmp=3:autoaspect:vpass=2 -o <film-name>.avi --- I would appreciate any suggestions explaining the nature of the problem and the way I could fix it. AVI with more audio streams

It is not clear for me from the docs: can mencoder create AVI file that is containing more than one audio stream? If yes how? E.g. I dumped two stream from a dvd: mplayer dvd://1 -aid 129 -dumpaudio -dumpfile audio_1.ac3 mplayer dvd://1 -aid 131 -dumpaudio -dumpfile audio_2.ac3 And what next? (mencoder dvd://1 -ovc lavc -lavcopts \ vcodec=mpeg4:vbitrate=<etc.> -o dvd.avi ... ???) 2nd question: is the two-pass encoding always risky concerning the A/V desynchronization when not using the simple "-oac copy" option and one should always check the obtained video, or is there a "foolsafe" way if one wants to (re)encode the audio stream (e.g. with mp3lame)? What does it mean: "As long as MEncoder _sees_ the audio.."
