Hi Zeev,

First of all:

Instead of asking for my money back, can
anybody help? Are there arguments I can try? Are there patches I
can try?

If you paid money to get rtmpdump you have most likely been
scammed. This software is free, both in the sense of being
offerered with open source code under a permissive license, and in
the sense of being offered at no charge.
I hope you meant that metaphorically.

You can get a partial fix to the problem by adding -R (--realtime)
to the command. (--live / -v likely works as well. I haven't tried
that in this case.)
This will prevent the download from starting over, but at least
from my machine and connection the downloaded video suffers from
freezes to the video stream (the sound seems fine).
The issue here seems identical to the problem I have with another
set of videos, detailed here:
http://forum.videohelp.com/threads/355146-%5Brtmpdump%5D-Download-rolls-back-stores-the-same-part-several-times?p=2310612

If anyone here knows a way to fully resolve the issue and
get a downloaded file with intact video, I would be most
interested to learn of it as well.
When invoked, rtmpdump begins to download the stream
but it stops and starts downloading from many seconds
before, and it never progresses much into the stream
while it keeps appending sections it has downloaded
already to the output file.
Compiling from git does not change this behavior.
The stream plays fine in Firefox using the flash player. It
skips a bit, but it is progressing. I hoped rtmpdump would be
able to wait for packets that take too long to arrive and to
ask for lost packets to e transmitted again, enabling me to
download a complete copy. But as-is, rtmpdump is useless.
Instead of asking for my money back, can anybody help? Are there
