I can confirm that this is needed with Wowza 3.1.1 as well.

However, I'm pretty sure the final version of the patch worked for me 
against akamai servers (I had to do some small touch-ups on it for it to 
work there, and the stuff that finally was committed shouldn't have 
changed in those regions). Unfortunately, I don't have access to any 
akamai account to test it out now, I fear that a tweak like this one would 
break that case instead.

If someone on the list has access to publishing to akamai, please test it 
with the current git version, and with this patch applied, so we'll know 
if it works before/after.
