If you're using this PPA for Ubuntu:-
https://launchpad.net/~jon-hedgerows/+archive/get-iplayer
It was built on 2011-08-15 so it's probably the very latest commit in git.
Perhaps your mac version of RTMPDump was built to a different commit.
