I confirm that I have come up across this very same problem for
another server and the resulted file skips or ends prematurely on
ffmpeg/mplayer.

However this does not happen consistently. That is, some times the
server sends the file without any "interruptions." I tend to deduct
that this behavior is clearly net speed related and not a problem of
rtmpdump.
