The original poster's problem was that he didn't specify a playpath. E.g., if 
you get a valid auth= value, then this would have worked:

rtmpdump -z -s "http://www.theprovince.com/multimedia/video/swf/flvPlayer.swf"

I didn't dig far enough to see how he came up with his auth value in the first 
place...
