Here's another couple sample (partial) vob files for mencoder a-v sync work. These files are available in: ftp://ftp.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/incoming/mencoder_dvd_audio_sync/ My first bugreport on this matter is in: ftp://ftp.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/incoming/avsync/ And also available to anybody at: http://bugfood.casa-z.org/mpbug/report2/ and http://bugfood.casa-z.org/mpbug/report1/ ------------------------------ Problems are all described in this thread: http://mplayerhq.hu/pipermail/mplayer-users/2003-January/028815.html Watch out, though - the rest of the thread is in February, which makes the http thread view screwed up. ...and in this one: http://mplayerhq.hu/pipermail/mplayer-users/2003-January/028473.html Basically, the problem seems to be that mencoder produces files that are consistantly out of sync by a certain value. That value varies among different DVDs, and is usually between 0.030 to 0.080 seconds. Older versions of mencoder (before the telecine detection and such) produce different syncronization values, and those values are usually closer to 0.000. ----------------------------- So, without further ado, here's which-files-are-what: ocean11.vob I uploaded this before I realized it wasn't as good an example. fastandfurious.vob When I encode this file, mencoder reports a-v as about 0.080. Playing the encoded file with -delay 0.080 is necessary to look right. fastandfurious.avi mencoder -v fastandfurious.vob -ss 150 -frames 450 -ovc lavc \ -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4 -oac mp3lame -ofps 23.976 -o fastandfurious.avi \ 2>&1 | tee fastandfurious.log fastandfurious.log verbosity level 1 ----------------------------- Many thanks for looking at this. -Corey
