[MPlayer-users] Why would mplayer not control the volume?

     There is no mixer device for this hardware, only PCM.  That seems to be the problem: mplayer controls the master, which doesn't exist, not PCM.  'softvol' works.
    I don't understand your advice, have read the docs.  What parameter would do what you recommend?
