You need to have FFmpeg around.

Usually you can install it via the package management of your
distribution.

Otherwise you could build FFmpeg alone separately and e.g.
install it somewhere MPlayer can find it or tell MPlayer's
configure, where to search for it.

Also you should delete the ffmpeg directory that probably
sits inside your MPlayer source directory. Otherwise run-time
problems will probably arise. This could be improve in our
build system I believe, but didn't get to it yet :(

I still get error, so error is from ffmpeg not from mplayer.  We will have to wait for a fix from them.
