[MPlayer-users] Frame dropping with vdpau deint on a 4K monitor

When I run mplayer with this command on my 1920x1200 monitor:

     mplayer-vo vdpau:deint=3 -vc ffmpeg12vdpau 1080i-file.mp4

It runs perfectly.

But when I run the same command in a 1920x1080 window on my 3840x2160 
monitor on the same system it drops about ten frames per second.

What could be causing slowing down the hardware deinterlacing?
