[MPlayer-users] DVD readable but not rippable?

Simply 'mplayer dvd://1 -aid 128' and the movie plays ok, it just gets
stuck at about 1 second (precisely, the status line says

V:   1.1  57/ 57  3%  1%  0.0% 0 0)

and /var/log/messages shows errors about I/O on /dev/sr0, but I just
press the right or up arrow to skip, and after about 30 seconds the
movie resumes and plays fine and doesn't hang anymore.
