Wished there was more useful information, I don't really know what goes
wrong there.

I missed that vdpau_h264 needs an update, too, so H.264 could not work.
You could try with the updated patch from the FFmpeg list (or just
copy-paste the change from vdpau.c to vdpau_h264.c).
