[MPlayer-users] GPL Violation in Medion MD86597 Mediaplayer

Hello everyone,

I discovered a GPL Violation concerning MPlayer. The german consumer
electronics vendor Medion [1] sold a Mediaplayer, which has been
developed for them by skymedi [2]. The Firmware of this Mediaplayer is
Android based and highly relies on MPlayer for playback of video, audio
and pictures. Proof for this are some mplayer -vc / -ac outputs (see
below). Medion provides a ~3GiB sized SDK with most of the firmware
source code, but the code of MPlayer is not included. Instead they
included a binary, which is packaged into the firmware during the build.

I would really like to have the code, because 1. the binary is compiled
without ALSA support (which I need) and 2. they make use of hardware
acceleration, which could be used in other applications, too.

I contacted Medion, but they simply stated, that they are not able to
provide me the source code (probably because they don't have it and
would have to ask skymedi).

Are there ways to force the GPL compliance (gpl-violations.org, FSF) ?
This project is the copyright holder, so I wanted to ask here first.
