Hello,
I use
/usr/bin/mplayer -vo null -ao null -msglevel identify=9 -frames 0 somemovie.avi
to get information from an avi file to about how it is encoded.
This workes fine for me. I used to detect files that had the audio
encoded with Software: Lavf53.2.0.
My media player refuses to play it properly so I use a script re recode
the audio.
But now I get more and more avi files (xvid) that it refused to play.
BUt I cannot see any differences between a avi that plays and that does
not play when using the line above.
I remember now that I encoded a few movies to avi xvid that also refused
to play properly. that was because I enabled global motion compensation
or some other xvid options my player does not like.
I have been searching for a while now but I did not find a linux
solution so far to extract those detaield encoding options from an avi
(xvid) file.
Is there a way to do this with mplayer?
Regards
Hans
