Definitely not. I should have expressed my thoughts more clearly,
especially on an inter-cultural list.

When you write "by MPlayer design", presumably that means that it would
be scarily difficult to try a new codec if the VO fails?
Two enhancement requests:
1) VDPAU error messages indicate whether they come from VO or VC stage.
2) Die quickly with a specific return code in this situation, so that
the user can script around the error. Or is there some other mix
of options that allows one to accomplish the same task?
