[MPlayer-users] Problem: some videos freeze, other very similar videos do not--difference might be just in resolution (pixels)--how to convert?

I had a good 3 years of use out of my 8400 GS before the fan died and
I started getting constant Xid errors. TBH I had plenty of videos that
would be right on the limit of what the 8400 GS could play - high
bitrate 1080p H264 would stall/stutter occasionally.
The replacement card I got is a 1GB GT 520, which was a little bit
more than I paid for the 8400 GS, but is the very latest VDPAU feature
set and can do Advanced 2x/Temporal 2x deinterlacing without
stuttering or breaking a sweat.
Cheers
