[MPlayer-users] Was mplayer better in 2006 ???

I had this problem pop up on my Debian box, playback of the AAC stream
is extremely choppy, but using the URL:
http://wnycfm.streamguys.com:80/wnycfm.aac
$ mplayer -V
MPlayer SVN-r34132 (C) 2000-2010 MPlayer Team
Switched to FAAD solved my problem.
