I noticed that I removed it and then reinstall it:
sudo apt-get remove mplayer
sudo apt-get install mplayer
apt-cache show mplayer
Filename: pool/multiverse/m/mplayer/mplayer_1.0~rc3+svn20090426-1ubuntu16_i386.deb
but the version string in the binary installed is:
Player SVN-r1.0~rc3+svn20090426-4.4.3 (C) 2000-2009 MPlayer Team
the binary it self has been updated:
stat /usr/bin/mplayer
Modify: 2010-10-16 11:13:29.000000000 -0400
Change: 2011-05-07 19:26:01.000000000 -0400

http://www.ubuntuupdates.org/packages/show/249651
the current version is svn20090426-

Hmm. Are you sure it was updated correctly? The MPlayer-version (judging by the output) doesn't seem to have changed between the two output-logs you posted.
