I can't upgrade at the moment but will do so after my project is over

I've been asking about my problem and it seems someone is able to get
the cinepak encoder on Linux working quite easily:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1709506 The files I used are
still uploaded, so you can try it out yourself. Here's the result that
someone with the latest git snapshot got:
http://www.andrews-corner.org/tmp/outfile_2.avi

One problem that we encountered is that the cinepak encoder doesn't
have any encoding options. I know it's a very specialist case/weird
request but I want to be able to encode using the cinepak codec at low
bitrates. Does this codec have any options?
