[MPlayer-users] Problems building mplayer CentOS 5.5 with autodetected "fontconfig"

Hi,

I would like to use mplayer with kplayer on CentOS 5.5 (64bit).
After building mplayer, it did not work with mplayer, because of some
font issues.

I then installed fontconfig (2.8.0) from source and found out that the
configure script automatically detected that fontconfig is installed
which is good.

Checking for freetype >= 2.0.9 ... yes
Checking for fontconfig ... yes
Checking for SSA/ASS support ... yes

When I now build mplayer, it fails with the following error:

libass/ass_fontconfig.o: In function `fontconfig_init':
ass_fontconfig.c:(.text+0x19a): undefined reference to `FcFreeTypeQueryFace'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [mplayer] Error 1

I tried solving this issue with help from:

but that did not work.

I also tried: fontconfig 2.4.2, 2.6.0, but this does not help much. Does
anybody has any suggestions? Is more information needed maybe?
