Where do you get this from anyway?
While it's still ancient, the current version of Knoppix at least
contains rc4, which is around a year newer.
And can play MPEG-2 out of the box.

Who knows what kind of bugs some badly compiled, two year old, "random"
version of MPlayer might have. But that mostly looks like title 2 is
simply (almost) empty.
