[MPlayer-users] Can't read HE-AACv2 audio from a device buffer

Couldn't find an answer to this anywhere so I thought I'd post it to this
list.
I have a character device buffer which I am using to send HE-AAC v2 frames
to and I want to use mplayer to read from that buffer and play out the
audio. I just can't get it to work. I have enabled cache which seems to help
a bit in that sometimes it will play a couple of seconds and then exit out.
Interestingly when I save the HE-AAC v2 frames to a file and then run
mplayer to read from that file, everything plays immaculately.
Here is what I do to get the audio from line-in and create HE-AAC v2 frames
to be sent to my device buffer (/dev/AVDPSound/0).
./arecord -v -Dplughw:Intel -f dat -t wav | ./aacplusenc - /dev/AVDPSound/0

And I am using the following mplayer command to decode it and send it out to
the front speakers.
./mplayer -ac faad -cache 8192 /dev/AVDPSound/0 -msglevel all=9 -ao
alsa:device=hw=Intel
The output that I get from mplayer is as follows (sorry it is a huge output
but I have turned on all traces in order to debug) -
