[MPlayer-users] mplayer crashes (SIGPIPE) on files with accented characters

I've been running a shell script to go line-by-line through a .ram
file and download all the rtsp streams included. It works for just
about every file except for the ones that have any foreign language
accents.  When it tries to play those it crashes.  Below is a sample
of the console output for a stream that causes mplayer to crash and
the command-line command that triggered it. As a testing measure, I
tried checking out the mplayer code from the svn repository and
compiling it, but that didn't fix the problem. I also looked through
documentation and FAQs but I could find anything about foreign
language accents at all. Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm running Ubuntu 8.04
