Have you tried invoking mplayer with dvdnav:// (instead of dvd://) and
-nocache? (ex mplayer dvdnav://1 -nocache)
Some dvd's are affected by lame copy protection that puts invalid blocks
on the dvd that causes the reader to stumble on error correction unless
it's instructed to skip those segments. The above invocation should
work on those.
