I use a no-name bt848 card for the video and sound-hardware from the
motherboard for the audio.

For the capture, I use this command line:

 streamer -i composite1 -t $2 -b 64 -s 768x576 -n pal -f mjpeg -j 100 -r 25 \
  -F stereo -o $1.avi

This looks easier than capturing with mencoder.

Just use the -C option or the alsa mixer get the audio.
