I've a freshly created video that will play fine when uploaded to YouTube or when editing in kdenlive.
When I attempt to play the source file I get just the audio and a grey screen. mplayer also becomes unresponsive to keyboad/mouse input after playing the clip.
What needs to be done to play correctly?
Here is my mplayer version, the start of the output when I run mplayer from the command line and information about the video file as described by mediainfo.
mplayer version: 2:1.0~rc2-0ubuntu19
When running mplayer from the command line the output is:
michael at hive:~/Videos/sotm3$ mplayer sotm_universe_benevolent.mp4
