Here are the commands I am using at the moment with limited success.

mencoder -tv
device=/dev/video0:normid=3:fps=25:alsa=1:adevice=hw.1,0:amode=1:audiorate=48000:volume=100:immediatemode=0:buffersize=32
-ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vhq:keyint=100:vbitrate=2000 -oac mp3lame
-lameopts vbr=0 -of mpeg -idx -o test.mpg tv://1

mplayer -idx test.mpg

Hope you can give me an idea on what I am doing wrong.
